General Physics Corporation Receives Award from Arkansas Chapter of American Society for Training and Development

Elkridge, MD. December 15, 2009Global performance improvement solutions provider General Physics Corporation (GP), the operating subsidiary of GP Strategies Corporation (NYSE: GPX), announced today that it has been honored with a 2009 Most Innovative Training Award by the Arkansas Chapter of the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD).

This award recognizes a person and/or organization that has made innovative contributions to the field of Human Resources Development (HRD) and has taken a training program to the “next level” by making great strides within the field of training. An ASTD mission in HRD is to develop a skilled workforce through enhanced training products.

The award acknowledged that by using instructor-led training; physical, hands-on equipment; Certified Educational Trainers; and Department of Homeland Security-certified instructors, GP continues to lead the world to better performance and fully supports the Arkansas Chapter of ASTD through its business unit located on the Pine Bluff Arsenal (PBA). The recognized GP business unit recently added newsletters and other outreach initiatives to increase the awareness of its courseware catalog to Emergency Management groups across the nation. Over the past 8 years, through GP’s Domestic Preparedness Equipment Training Assistance Program (DPETAP), training has been provided to more than 90,000 first responders in Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) detection, protection and decontamination equipment to students representing 1,600 agencies in 48 states, including more than 2,500 in 25 agencies in Arkansas.

Jeanie Filter, President of the Arkansas Chapter of ASTD, presented the award to Randy Bartley, GP’s Director of Homeland Security, Defense and Emergency Management Programs at PBA, and stated, “We are truly honored to recognize organizations that go above and beyond the basic requirements of training and HRD, especially those that can sustain the performance over many years. We really appreciate the extraordinary support that GP’s Pine Bluff office, especially Cliff Brown (Board Member and Programs Chairperson), gives to our chapter.”
