COLUMBIA, Md., Feb. 27, 2018 /PRNewswire/ — Global performance improvement solutions provider GP Strategies Corporation (NYSE: GPX) today announced a formal agreement with Structural Integrity Associates, Inc. (SI) to bring SI’s best-in-class boiler and piping reliability expertise to the GP Strategies EtaPRO™ real-time monitoring platform.
SI, an industry leader in condition assessment and lifecycle management of critical power plant components, holds deep expertise that has been embedded in engineering software for evaluating extreme duty material performance. EtaPRO is used worldwide by leading power-generating organizations to monitor the performance and reliability of their generation assets.
EtaPRO users will benefit from leading-edge Boiler and Piping Component Reliability (BPCR) modules developed by SI to quantify damage to high-pressure, high-temperature components such as tubing, piping, headers, and desuperheaters. The BPCR modules track and trend accumulated creep and fatigue damage in real time using SI’s proprietary algorithms that combine actual operating data and material condition with a plant’s specific configuration. Plant operators can use the resulting life consumption estimates to guide asset management decisions, such as changes in operating procedures, targeted inspections, or off-line analysis of anomalous conditions. The BPCR modules in EtaPRO embed SI’s life prediction algorithms, which are based on decades of field inspections on thousands of conventional fossil and combined cycle plant components.
Richard DesJardins, Vice President of GP Strategies, stated, "We are pleased to be working with Structural Integrity Associates to bring their domain experience to our existing and new EtaPRO customers. Now, in addition to rotating machinery, heat exchangers, and the overall plant, EtaPRO users can gain further insight into the condition of their high-pressure boiler and piping components."
Ian Perrin, Vice President of SI, stated, "Online tracking of asset integrity is particularly valuable in today’s power market, which demands flexible plant operation. We are excited to bring our suite of damage-tracking applications to the world-class EtaPRO platform, and I’m sure EtaPRO users will appreciate the expanded capability for condition-based pressure-part integrity management."
