COLUMBIA, Md., Sept. 24, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — Global performance improvement solutions provider GP Strategies Corporation (NYSE: GPX) today announced that Northland Power Inc. (NPI) has selected the EtaPRO™ Performance and Condition Monitoring System for implementation at selected thermal plants, solar farms and wind turbine sites located in Canada. The system will provide critical production, performance and reliability information to facility and corporate asset managers.
NPI selected the EtaPRO System for broader deployment following its success at the Thorold Cogeneration Plant. “The Thorold plant staff quickly took hold of the EtaPRO technologies to streamline many day-to-day tasks, including load forecasting and interacting with the market,” said Greg Lennox, Construction General Manager for NPI. “We were impressed with the breadth of EtaPRO System technologies and GP Strategies’ willingness to be flexible in meeting our needs.”
The EtaPRO System will be installed at each generating site, as well at the Northland Power corporate offices in Toronto. The system will provide real-time monitoring, thermodynamic modeling and anomaly detection, as well as dashboards, reports, screens, alerts and roll-up of facility information. In addition, GP Strategies will automate the collection of data from Ontario’s Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO), which will allow Northland Power to more efficiently market its power for each facility with less manpower required.
“We are pleased that NPI selected GP Strategies to expand the EtaPRO System. We look forward to working directly with NPI’s management and operations groups,” stated Joe Nasal, Senior Vice President of GP Strategies’ Energy Services Group. “The NPI projects showcase how the EtaPRO System technologies can bring value to both thermal plants and renewables,” added Mr. Nasal.
The EtaPRO System is deployed in 34 countries on over 1,000 generating units. For more information about GP Strategies’ Performance Engineering Services, visit http://powerplant.gpstrategies.com/.
